So, here is the cream of this years’ caricatures from weddings, parties and life. ENJOY!

Cambridge on the day of the deluge
On the day that the heavens opened and covered the world in a thick layer of dandruff early this month I found myself caricaturing at a spectacular union between an american navy guy(with all his gung-ho colleagues in tow) and the daughter of a millionaire entrepreneur, in whose grounds the wedding was taking place. Characters were not in short supply then, from the overbearingly flirtatious to...
The Bridge
I must update this blog more frequently! Many cartoonifying-people japes have occurred since my last post. Like the time in january when I was caricaturing on Hungerford bridge and three friends get caricatured. I ask them ‘Where are you off to now’ and they tell me about a friends’ party in her flat just by the london eye. Ever cheeky I imply I should be caricaturing at that...

So I was SUPPOSED to be on holiday...
…and I ended up working/showing off! Trawling through the 2011 archives I came across this photo, which is of artist Evangelos Kaimakis whose studio in Kerameikos, Athens I popped into with a friend(He was participating in ReMAP, where buildings over the whole area give themselves over to displaying art).
He was extremely friendly, and showed me a way of making portraits that involved a...

Help for Heroes Charity gig
Here are some of the caricatures from my ‘Help for Heroes’ charity gig I did before Christmas. Irrespective of rank, everyone got the same ridiculous treatment, as you will see below;
They asked for it like this, honestly!
The Mad menagerie that was the Regents College...
I can now say I have worked with a Marilyn Monroe impersonator, a magician(with insane ‘triple-beard’) a chorus of showgirls and one other caricaturist. I could tell he was good from the moment I saw him, he had a bowtie.
The Institute of Mechanical Engineers Xmas party
Mechanical engineers are fun. Let no-one ever refute this fact. I had a ball at the Institute of Mechanical Engineers christmas bash, a good 3 hours caricaturing(My hand! My hand!!), the highlight of which was caricaturing a boy who looked exactly like Justin Bieber(Who everyone in earshot had nicknamed ‘Bieber’ accordingly).
A right ol' regent affair in the Cotswolds
My longest distance caricature jaunt yet, to remotest Charlbury I did go, suited, booted, and ready for the Paradigm Services* Masquerade Ball!
Many hilarious headresses, masks, wierd hairstyles and cummerbunds were drawn that night, but here is the cream of the lot. Tonight’s prize goes to…..
…crazy georgian couple!!
*Not, suprisingly, the front for Dr Evil’s...
WINCHESTER
It was a blast from the past to meet the whole staff of a primary school the other day for their xmas party, as it was about this time last year that I left working in a school myself. School staff definetly know how to have fun, and the crowd were in good form.
You can get your Christening caricatured now! What...
I caricatured my first ever christening party the other day!
Here is what Chanelle Hunte, the mum said about the caricatures;
‘Just wanted to once again say thank you for caricaturing at my daughters christening on Saturday! The caricatures added something a little different to the day and was well received by everyone! Sorry about all the chaos on the day I was running around like...
A Russian birthday on the bayou
As I walked up the foggy canal toward the Cornelius restaurant, it looked just like an old shack on the bayou, and I thought, ‘What the heck am I just about to walk into’?! As soon as I entered however I was greeted warmly by Julia, whose son’s birthday I then proceeded to chronicle through the medium of cartoon, and a right royal russian knees-up it was too!
How to Caricature(among other things)
The other day I was emailed by the How-to Website Videojug, and they asked me if I could present a short video on how to make a caricature. It sounded like an awful lot of fun so I jumped at the chance, and here are the results!
(P.S; The video should be out in feb!)
The Last Supper- Bumpkin restaurant in Kensington
I was invited to draw at a birthday in South Kensington last night, and upon getting there I was asked by the organiser if I could draw EVERYONE THERE. I took the challenge, and drew every 30 of them while they ate, though tricky, I cannot resist a challenge!
The EUROSTAR Xmas Party
Ashford, Kent, and caricaturing the very lively bunch who work at Eurostar was a blast. This time I bought Henry, my hedgehog mascot, and the caricatures improved considerably, someone even had a caricature with him in their arms!

My caricatures for Romax Marketing
This week I headed down to London’s deep south to the Churchill theatre where Romax marketing were putting on a party for their company and clients. They had me, a photographer and other artists at hand and I got to caricature some real characters. Here are the images.
Ade!
Here is one of the aforementioned balloon caricatures of my good friend and bandmate Ade.
Ade plays sax in my soul band Different Thing and I because of down time in rehearsals, he seems to be the one person I’ve caricatured most!

A Christchurch wedding (or, the birth of the...
Last weekend I got on down to Christchurch on the south coast for the wedding of Sarah and David.
Sarah asked me if I could do something for the kids at the start of the reception, so I decided to some caricatures on balloons. The tip with those; take a photo fast before they pop!
Here are some of the caricatures I made of the guests.

Back in the ring - A Chelmsford Wedding
Yesterday evening I joined the guys from the wedding entertainment co. ‘A Band and a D.J,’(http://www.abadj.co.uk/) to caricature at a wedding deep in the heart of essex.
So here is the fruit of the evening, enjoy and leave a comment if ya do!
(Also, try and spot the Peter Crouch and Kevin Bacon lookalikes)

Reasons to busk #48
Caricaturing on the Thames, while kind of exhausting, has many good things going for it.
For a start, getting outside in the fresh air and brilliant sun is good for an artist (we can be a naturally cave-dwelling sort) and there is also something to be said for standing stock still and watching London bustle by.
However my favourite aspect of al fresco drawing has to be random conversation with...

Now for kicks, some kids
I’ve had the pleasure to work for the past 4 months at Woodford Pre-School Playgroup, and as a leaving gift I thought I’d caricature all the kids who were at the morning playgroup.
Unfortunately I forgot how skittish and impatient the little ones could be!
It was harder than I thought, and some sketches were ultra-fast, but I managed to finish the last kid just as her mum was...

Amwell Street Open House - A bit of roaming in...
Last thursday I was a wandering caricaturist at The Amwell street Open House- An art and craft showcase event hosted by the gregarious Paul Jokinnen-Carter, florist at Flor Unikon. An eclectic range of Amwell street businesses opened their doors to show art, video, jewellery and more from locals. There were also demonstrations and to add a touch of something(Class? Derelicte chic?) Paul asked me...

It's. Freakin'. Warm. Again!- The continuing...
Here I am returning to my blog (a blog that is surely the most read on the web) because the combination of air heat and children being released for half-term means one thing, more Thames caricaturing!
This bout was a great success, with passersby rubbernecking like hell and going crazy for the 5 minute scribble-stylings I was proffering!
Here are some snaps of the new and improved pitch and my...

The Best o' the Best
It’s a new year, so what better chance to look back at some of my best caricatures so far. The events have been eclectic, suprising, fun,and I’ve had a chance to meet countless interesting souls, the main reason for caricaturing I find!
Cheers for the opportunity everyone,
Ben

The Black & White Christmas Ball
My latest event as caricaturist was in the stately Wharncliffe suite at the Russell Hotel in Bloomsbury. It was great fun caricaturing everyone in all their finery, and galling to be in such an amazing hall, but I managed to capture some of the characters and photograph my drawings. Here are the best of them.

Katie and Brad's Wedding
Last month I caricatured at the wedding of Katie and Brad Parker. Here’s what they said about me;
“We loved the Caricatures that Ben drew at our wedding! It added a really unique touch to our special day and our friends and family commented on how much they loved their caricatures and how friendly and professional Ben was. We would highly recommended Ben for any event; we found...

Wednesday Fry-up
Here’s a pencil sketch of King Stephen Fry(from the television) that I did for a poster, a poster that I didn’t complete because it got splashed and the ink bled(I’m never illustrating on a jetty ever again!).
But here survives an enquiring fry, so do please enquire if you’d like a drawing of your or a loved-one’s face or hands!(or a foot portrait, I’ve never...

Something fishy's afoot...
How to cover up a nasty bit of chipboard that’s just sprung up because of building work? An undersea mural of course!
I painted this over the course of a week for the school that I work at in Manor Park, and the different coloured fish represent different team colours that each kid is assigned. When their team wins points, they paint more scales on the fish.
It makes it at least 5 times...

While I’m on the subject of fish, here’s a poem by Kathryn Gynn, written after I told her about the Gurnard, native british fish and owner of some bizarre prehistoric looks!

Autumn and its Dog
This is Logan the Dog, a commission I completed recently for a man named Stefano and his 40th birthday, and it depicts three of his dog moods.
1; Devil-may-care. 2; Graceful, and 3; Pensive.

Busker's pitch - Back when it was warm #3
It was early August, and not being purely satisfied with being cooped up at home, I decided to take my art to the streets (and bridges) of London!
I planted myself and my easel on the hungerford footbridge opposite the Royal Festival Hall and before long loved-up couples, sugared-up little ones (and one very reflective old indian gentleman who sat for a portrait) all came in their droves to be...

Caricatures - Back when it was warm #2
Not long had the school summer term finished when I decided now was the time, come out of the closet as a Caricaturist. Before then I had caricatured workmates and family, but now it was time to get professional, and get the business hat on!
Here are a selection of some of my recent caricatures.
Alan Sugar - Famous point included
Rihanna
My Dad in real life(being a goof) and…

Amp- The bewildering first gig! -...
Sometime in early August I post an advert on gumtree as a caricaturist thinking not much of it and that it wouldn’t come to much. Well, I should just lay back and trust the internet and fate really, because lo and behold, I got me a gig, the first as a caricaturist!
The setting comprised of a bar in Waterloo, 30-odd 30-somethings with very good hair and a vaguely nervous artist but as soon...
